We would first describe how this idea came into play. All thanks to a brilliant nurse that enlightened us towards a vital smartphone feature that could save our lives in times of emergency. This feature was previously available only on iPhone , but now it’s available for androids too.
This feature is called medical ID and it’s available in every iPhone for free. Now, due to recent updates , it’s available in androids for free too as emergency information
Julia Thompson, a nurse, shared this feature on Facebook and described how important it is for smartphone users to create a medical ID.
She said; “Working in a public hospital and seeing patients in ER all the time, I see many patients come in and we have had no way of knowing who they are, or how to contact their next of kin, or their medical history! And their phones are locked!”
She further went on to say that “ Many people don’t realize that they can set up something called a ‘Medical ID’ on their iPhone if you have the health app (free with the phone). I didn’t even realize this when I got my own iPhone!”
Thanks to the woman, else this wouldn’t have been any sooner known. Also, this information is easily accessible, even if the phone is locked. This makes it extremely convenient to treat a person or call his or her relatives. It displays things like name, date of birth, emergency contacts, medical conditions and even blood type and donor status. And what’s more is that you can even add notes!
And for the Android users, there is such an app too. It’s called ICE ( in case of emergency) and it works similarly.
Now, we’ll tell you how to create your own medical ID on your iPhone and get saved.
Step 1 :- Turn your phone screen on using the “power” or “home” button.
Step 2 :- Find the “Health” app on your iPhone
Step 3 :- Tap the “Medical ID” option in the bottom right corner inside the app
Step 4 :- Select the edit option
Step 5 :- Fill out the necessary option
Step 6 :- Turn on “Show when locked” slider
Step 7 :- Tap “Done” to finish
For Android users, there is an app called ICE( In Case of Emergency) that does a similar job. Now follow the instructions on Google Play app page to set it up.
